What data we collect
When you use lope, we collect:
- Your Strava activity data (runs, heart rate, pace, distance, zones) via read-only Strava API access
- Your Strava profile information (name, profile photo)
- Your email address and first name (provided during signup)
- Chat messages you send to the AI coach
How we use your data
Your data is used to:
- Provide personalized AI coaching based on your training history
- Analyze your heart rate zones, pacing trends, and fatigue patterns
- Generate pre-run guidance, post-run feedback, and weekly summaries
- Send you account-related emails
Data storage
Your data is stored in a SQLite database on Fly.io infrastructure. We use standard security practices to protect your information.
Third-party services
lope uses the following third-party services:
- Strava API — to read your activity and profile data (read-only access). Strava is a registered trademark of Strava, Inc. lope is not endorsed by or affiliated with Strava.
- Anthropic (Claude) — to power AI coaching conversations. Your training data may be sent to Anthropic's API to generate coaching responses; Anthropic does not use API data to train models.
- Resend — to send transactional emails
- Vercel — to host the marketing site
- Fly.io — to host the application and database
Your Strava data
lope requests read-only access to your Strava data. We never write to your Strava account, and we never share or sell your Strava data to third parties. You can revoke lope's access to your Strava account at any time from your Strava settings.
Raw Strava data (activity details, GPS streams, lap data) is cached temporarily and automatically purged after 7 days, in compliance with Strava's API Agreement. We retain only lope-computed training analysis derived from this data (e.g., pace trends, zone distribution, coaching metrics) which is not Strava data.
If you disconnect your Strava account from lope, all associated data — including derived training analysis, coaching history, and profile information — is immediately and permanently deleted.
Data retention and deletion
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your profile settings in the app. You can also request deletion by emailing support@lopeapp.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
Early access
lope is currently in early access. This privacy policy may be updated as the product evolves. We will notify you of any significant changes via email.
